Medina’s poetic films preserve and recognize tender living migrant memories, hybrid identities due to displacement, and the haunting reverberations, echos, of the hidden and buried, with eternal reverence for his beloved mama, and the migrant matriarchs who protect generations forth from violence, towards dreams of care.
A first-generation Colombian Queer immigrant rooted in the midwest, his films premiered at Palms Springs International Short Film Festival, El Festival International de Cine de Cartagena de las Indias, and Provincetown International Film Festival. His latest short film LENGUA received the Jury Award for Best Short Film at MSPIFF.
Recognitions include The Apichatpong Weerasethakul Playlab, The UFO Film Lab supported by BAM, The Jerome Fellowship, and The McKnight Fellowship among others.
